Limited liability and shareholding companies in Qatar must appoint an auditor every year under the Commercial Companies Law. For tax, any company with a foreign owner, and any branch of a foreign company, must file audited financial statements from a GTA-registered auditor regardless of size. Companies wholly owned by Qatari or resident GCC nationals need an audit from QAR 1 million capital or QAR 5 million income. Axiom runs the whole engagement for you, up to and including the filing.

    How the audit process works

    1. Planning call (week 0). Scope, materiality, timetable and a document request list.
    2. Interim preparation. An early look at your records and controls, so year-end is faster.
    3. Year-end fieldwork support. Schedules and evidence prepared, stock count arranged where needed, and queries resolved as they come up, not at the end.
    4. Reporting. Draft financial statements and any management letter points reviewed with you, then the final audited accounts and the Arabic version ready for the GTA.
    5. Filing. Accounts attached to your tax return on Dhareeba before the four-month deadline.

What you get beyond the audited accounts

    • A controls action list that takes the points raised during the audit, ranks them by risk and sets out practical fixes.
    • A tax touch-point: our Managing Partner flags WHT, transfer pricing or deductibility issues that come up during the audit.
    • A next-year plan so the following audit is faster and cheaper.

    Why Axiom

    • Partner-led. Our Managing Partner leads your engagement personally and stays with it until the accounts are filed.
    • One point of contact. One team handles your documents, queries and filing, so you're not chasing several different parties for answers.
    • On time. We plan back from your tax deadline, not forward from when we can fit you in.
    • One fee, agreed before we start, covering our audit management work right through to filing. Ask for a quote and we'll send you a fixed fee within one business day.

    Frequently asked questions

Does every company in Qatar need an audit?

Under the Commercial Companies Law, limited liability and shareholding companies appoint an auditor every year. For tax, foreign-owned companies and branches must attach audited accounts regardless of size; companies wholly owned by Qatari or resident GCC nationals below QAR 1m capital and QAR 5m income file a simplified return without one.

    Who issues the audit report?

Statutory audit reports are issued by an independent auditor licensed in Qatar.

Must financial statements be in Arabic?

Yes, for submission to the GTA for tax years from 1 January 2020.

How long does an audit take?

It depends on the size of the company and the state of its books. We agree a timetable with you before we start, planned around the four-month GTA deadline.

What is the difference between Those Charged with Governance and management?

Those Charged with Governance, such as the board or partners, oversee the company's direction and its financial reporting. Management runs day-to-day operations and prepares the financial statements.

How is the financial year set?

By the articles of association. It is 12 months, except the first financial year, which can be shorter or longer (Law No. 11 of 2015, Art. 182).

How much does audit management cost?

It depends on size, transaction volume and the state of your records. We quote a fixed fee after a short call.

Rules on this page were last checked against official Qatar government sources on 7 October 2026.

Need audit-ready accounts before the tax deadline?

Tell us your year-end and we'll send a fixed quote for managing your audit.
